Set-up in progress at Kita Aikoku Service Park

2020-09-09

You know what? Tomorrow is the day of opening of the Kita Aikoku Service Park, and documentation for the competitors!
We are working hard to prepare the Kita Aikoku Service Park to welcome competitors. This year, Rally HQ and Media Centre facilities are relocating into the Kita Aikoku, and we are setting those two offices up there. It is unusually hot day as a September day, and it has been tough work – but it is, as you know, very much exciting.

Important announcement of Rally Hokkaido 2020

2020-06-11

To all the intended crews, competitors and concerned parties

Hereby we would like to inform you the current plan of Rally Hokkaido 2020
Currently Japan is under tightened border control with no estimated lift date due to COVID-19 pandemic, and this makes it very difficult hold the event as a round of Asia Pacific Rally Championship. Thus, this year, we made difficult decision to temporary step off from the APRC series and operate the event as non-championship international rally event.
Along with JAF guidelines we will make this year’s event as compact as possoble, making it 2 day events running on Saturday and Sunday.
It is our deepest regret that, for the first time of its history, Rally Hokkaido 2020 will be held as no-spectator event. Ceremonies such as ceremonial start and rally show will not be held.
We will keep you updated with the situation on this website.

Current plan of schedule is as follows:

[Digital APRC] Awards for Online Rally Hokkaido

2020-05-22

Digital APRC announced they will issue awards for Online Rally Hokkaido. In addition to certificate of achievement for winner, 2nd and 3rd fastest competitors, they will be giving “Biggest Moment” award with US$100 prize money for competitors who submit their “Big Moment” and got the largest vote in the APR official facebook page.

The “Big Moments” are something like – a jump, big spin, going off-road and recovering. Competitors are encouraged to record their stage and submit their big moments to FIA APRC official facebook page. Then the Digital APRC will post those on their facebook page, and the one who got the most reactions and comments will win the prize.
So, even if you are not competing this weekend, you can join us by checking the official page and giving your voting.
We will be waiting for your participation in either way!

Did I hear you will drive for the Biggest Moment award this weekend? I hope not… 😉

Only 1 week to go for On-line Rally Hokkaido – Are U Ready?

2020-05-15

Now only about a week to go for On-line Rally Hokkaido.  Those who competed the previous round, Whangarei, have you secured your schedule?

Those who plan to compete the digital APRC for the first time next week, have you got everything you need to compete the event? If you are novice driver in the e-Sport, you might be wondering what is required and how you can prepare them. While it is clear you need a gaming console (Playstation4, xbox or PC) and DiRT Rally 2.0 software, you might be wondering if you need a steering wheel controller or not.

Is Steering Wheel Mandatory for DigitalAPRC?
Well, the answer is NO – you can still drive rally cars without it in DiRT Rally 2.0 and complete Digital APRC. You might  have seen photos star rally drivers competing virtual events such as Solberg World Cup, in sport bucket seat and holding steering wheel, facing large LCD monitor. Those are nice but can be quite expensive, but pelase relax. You can compete without such luxury setup.
Some people prefer that style for near-real-world experience, but you can even compete with standard gaming controller pad which comes with the console, and there are people who actually completed the Whangarei round with it. Yes, you can compete without spending money for extra hardware.
Still, you might want a steering wheel to gain close-to-reality experience – if yes, there are wide variety of third party products, with price tags ranging from approx JPY10,000 to above 100,000.
This comparison site might help you findig right product for you (sorry, Japanese language only):

NOTE: This does note mean Rally Hokkaido recommends, certifies or guarantees any of those products.

3 or more digital APRC rounds are currently planned after On-line Rally Hokkaido, so it might be a good opportunity to get one for you for more fun on the virtual rally.
